August 3, 1977: The Spy Who Loved Me, the third film starring Roger Moore as spy James Bond 007, is released in the United States.
The film also starred Curt Jergens as the villain Karl Stromberg, Barbara Bach as KGB agent Anya Amasova, Caroline Munro as Naomi, and 7’2” Richard Kiel as the memorable metal toothed henchman, “Jaws”.  The film also features one of the most memorable Bond cars of all time—a sleek, powerful Lotus Esprit that does double duty as a submarine.  It was the sixth highest grossing film of 1977.
